Air conditioning for retail shops
A shop with a full-height glazed frontage on a sunny high street can heat up dramatically by early afternoon, and if the door is propped open for passing trade — which most retailers want in summer — a chunk of whatever cooling you produce disappears straight back outside.
We size retail systems with that door-open reality built in rather than assuming a sealed box, and we think about where units go carefully: cassettes and ducted returns need to avoid clashing with shelving, signage, sprinkler heads and shopfitting, and outdoor condensers need a legal, practical spot that doesn't block a fire escape or annoy a landlord.

Large areas of glass, especially south or west-facing, act like a greenhouse. Solar gain through glazing is often the single biggest cooling load in a retail unit, bigger than lighting or customer numbers in many cases.

We work from shopfitters' drawings where available so cassette positions don't clash with display fixtures or sprinkler layout.
Fitting around trading hours
Most retail installs happen before opening or after closing, and multi-day jobs are often split so the shop can trade during the day with work continuing overnight. Where a unit sits in a parade or shopping centre, we also factor in landlord access rules and any restrictions on external plant, deliveries or working hours.
Maintenance and running costs
Retail units benefit from a maintenance visit before the summer trading season to catch problems before they cause a shop to close early on a hot day. Running costs are affected heavily by how much the door is left open and how well blinds or film manage solar gain — cooling can only do so much against unmanaged glazing.

It will always work harder against an open door. Sizing accounts for typical infiltration, but there's a practical limit — some retailers add air curtains to reduce losses.
Will a cassette clash with our shopfitting?
It shouldn't if we coordinate positions with your shopfitter's drawings before installation — that's the main reason early planning matters in retail.
Do we need landlord permission for an outdoor condenser?
