Refrigeration failure is not an inconvenience, it is a stock write-off. A cold room drifting from 3C to 8C overnight can cost a restaurant or convenience store more in one morning than several years of planned servicing. That is why refrigeration contracts run on a shorter cycle than air conditioning, usually quarterly or six-monthly rather than annually.

A planned refrigeration visit is different work from an AC service. We clean condensers properly, because a furred condenser is the single most common cause of a cabinet losing temperature in hot weather. We check evaporator condition and defrost operation, since ice build-up chokes airflow and quietly pushes temperatures up. We inspect door seals, hinges and closers, because a tired gasket on a cold room door runs the compressor continuously.

We then verify actual running temperatures and pressures and record the readings, so you have a trend rather than a snapshot. When a cabinet is slowly getting worse, the numbers show it before the stock does.

Cold rooms, cellar cooling and catering equipment can all sit on one agreement alongside any air conditioning on site. Read more on cold rooms, cellar cooling and catering refrigeration, or call 07940 953486.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

How often should commercial refrigeration be serviced?

Quarterly or six-monthly for most food businesses. Heavily used kitchen equipment and cold rooms with constant door traffic justify quarterly; a quiet back-of-house freezer may be fine at six-monthly.

Does the contract cover ice machines?

Yes. Ice machines are included and need descaling and sanitising attention as well as refrigeration checks, so they are usually put on a more frequent cycle.

Do you record temperatures for due diligence?

We record running temperatures and pressures at each visit and include them in the report, which supports your own food safety records. Your daily temperature logging remains your responsibility.

What if a cold room fails outside working hours?

Contract customers have access to out of hours cover. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00.

Can refrigeration and air conditioning be on one contract?

Yes, and it is usually cheaper that way. One survey, one schedule, one annual figure, and we cover both while we are on site.
