Let the cellar drift warm and beer pours fobby and wasteful, so yield drops on every cask while quality complaints go up. Let it run too cold and you get its own set of problems with cask conditioning.
Most cellar cooling faults we attend come down to airflow and heat rejection. Condensers get placed in tight, unventilated spaces, then get furred with dust, and the pack cannot dump heat. Add a warm summer week and a cellar that coped in April is failing in July. Cleaning and correcting airflow often restores performance without new equipment.
Where the pack genuinely is past it, we size a replacement against the cellar volume, insulation quality, hatch and door losses, and the heat load from the stock coming in. A poorly insulated cellar with a leaky hatch needs bigger plant, or better still, the insulation fixing first.

What temperature should a beer cellar be?
Cask ale is typically served in the 11C to 13C range and most cellars are set around 12C, while keg and lager lines rely on additional python and remote cooling. Your brewery or supplier will state the exact target for the products you sell.
Why has my cellar suddenly stopped holding temperature?
Usually a fouled or badly ventilated condenser, an iced evaporator, a refrigerant leak, or a hatch or door seal problem letting warm air in. Hot weather exposes all of them at once.
Can you service cellar cooling outside opening hours?
Yes. We schedule pub and bar work around trading, including early starts before opening.
Is it worth replacing an old cellar cooling pack?
If it is repeatedly failing in warm weather, running constantly, or on an obsolete refrigerant with no spares available, replacement usually pays for itself in reduced waste and fewer emergency call outs.
