How Long Does Air Conditioning Installation Take?

Most single-room installs are done in a day — larger or more complex jobs take longer.

Timescale is one of the first things people ask about, particularly if they're trying to plan around a hot spell or a business closure. The honest answer is that it depends on how many units are going in and how much pipework and electrical work is involved.

A straightforward single-room wall-mounted split with a short, simple pipe run to an accessible outdoor unit position is often completed in a single day, including commissioning. Multi-room or commercial projects naturally take longer.

How Long Does Air Conditioning Installation Take?

Typical timescales

  • Single split, straightforward access: one day
  • Multi-split with two to four indoor units: one to three days
  • Ducted systems with ceiling void work: several days
  • Commercial fit-outs with multiple cassettes or plant: project-managed over a longer schedule

What extends a job

  • Long or awkward pipe routes, especially through multiple floors
  • Difficult access for the outdoor unit, such as high-level walls or flat roofs
  • Electrical upgrades needed before the AC work can proceed
  • Making good — plastering, painting or joinery around new pipework
  • Working around occupied offices or trading hours

The process from booking to commissioning

After the survey and written quote, we agree a date and talk through what to expect on the day — where cables and pipes will run, how much noise and dust to expect, and roughly how long we'll be on site. On the day itself, the system is installed, pressure tested, evacuated, charged and commissioned before we hand over the controls.

How we quote timescales

We give a realistic time estimate at the survey stage rather than a generic promise, because pipe routes and access genuinely change how long a job takes. If a job is likely to run over more than one day, we'll say so upfront in the written quote.

FAQs

Common questions

Can you install air conditioning in one visit?

For a single straightforward room, often yes — but it depends on pipe run length and access, which we confirm at survey.

Do you work around business opening hours?

Yes, for commercial jobs we can often schedule noisy or disruptive work outside trading hours where practical.

How soon can you fit us in during summer?

Demand rises sharply in hot weather, so booking a survey as early as possible helps secure a slot before the busiest period.

Does bad weather delay installation?

Outdoor unit fitting can be affected by heavy rain or wind at height, but most jobs proceed as planned.
