What to Expect From an Emergency Callout
Breakdowns rarely happen at a convenient time, and when refrigeration or critical cooling fails, minutes matter. Our emergency cover is there to get an engineer assessing the problem quickly and to stop a bad situation getting worse while a permanent fix is arranged.
Not every fault needs the same urgency — a noisy fan is different from a failed cold room compressor with stock at risk — so the first step is always a quick conversation to understand what's actually happening.

How we triage a call
- What the equipment is and what it's used for (comfort cooling, cold storage, server room, etc.)
- What symptoms you're seeing — no cooling, unusual noise, ice, water leak, error code
- Whether stock, equipment or people are at immediate risk
- Any safety concerns such as burning smells or electrical issues
What an engineer does on arrival
- Diagnoses the fault using pressures, electrical checks and visual inspection
- Explains what's found in plain terms before doing further work
- Carries out a repair on the spot where parts and access allow
- Puts in place a temporary measure if a full repair needs ordered parts
- Advises on next steps and any follow-up visit needed
Temporary measures while parts are sourced
For refrigeration failures, that might mean advising on stock relocation or arranging temporary cooling while a replacement part is sourced. For comfort cooling, it may simply mean confirming the system is safe to leave off until a part arrives.
How we quote emergency work
Emergency callouts are quoted based on the work involved once diagnosed — we'll explain likely costs before starting any chargeable repair work, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
FAQs
Common questions
How quickly can you attend an emergency?
Response times depend on location and current workload, but emergency cover is prioritised over routine work — call us on 07940 953486 to discuss your situation.
Do you cover emergencies outside normal hours?
Yes, we provide emergency cover outside our standard Mon-Fri 08:00-17:00 hours for urgent breakdowns.
What if the fault needs a part you don't have on the van?
We'll put in place a sensible temporary measure where possible and order the part, keeping you updated on timescales.
Will you tell me the cost before starting repair work?
Yes, once the fault is diagnosed we explain the likely cost before proceeding with chargeable work.

Ducted vs wall-mounted air conditioning
Ducted systems hide almost entirely from view but demand far more from the building; wall-mounted units are visible but far less invasive to fit.
