Air conditioning for home offices and garden rooms

Garden rooms and converted home offices often have more glazing and less thermal mass than the rest of the house, so they overheat faster and need their own dedicated cooling.

Since working from home became normal for a lot of people, garden rooms and converted outbuildings have become genuine daily workspaces rather than occasional hobby rooms, and that changes what's acceptable in terms of summer heat. A garden office that's unbearable by 2pm on a warm day isn't really usable for a full working day.

These spaces are often built with large glazed doors and lightweight, well-insulated but low-thermal-mass construction, which means they heat up quickly in direct sun and don't have the same buffering effect as a brick-built room in the main house.
